Nottdance 2017 was a blast! The 24th Nottdance, but the first we’ve hosted in our very own building iC4C…

Industry professionals and the general public descended on Nottingham for 5 days and 30+ events celebrating choreographic ideas foregrounding new works, discourse and research.

Dance4’s new international Centre for Choreography (iC4C) was a bustling hub of ideas and conversation about choreography: Our partners in Nottingham and across the region joined us. Events were held at Backlit Gallery, Derby Museums, ncn Lace Market Gallery, Nottingham Castle, Nottingham Contemporary, Lakeside Arts, Nottingham Playhouse, and Wollaton Hall.

Spectator Paul Hughes comments about Lucy Suggates Future Dancer that it was ‘rewriting the limits of possibility.’ This feels appropriate not just for Lucy Suggate’s piece but of all our artists who bravely committed to sharing risky and challenging work with open and willing audiences.

There were a multiplicity of different ways to engage in Nottdance. Participant in Odori-Dawns-Dance Kalila Storey noted: “Participating in Odori Dawns Dance was a wonderfully intriguing experience. We were introduced to the work in a kind and considered way and were given the room to develop and explore for ourselves, finding how the work fit with this group of people and celebrating the differences in our bodies and the way they move. The individual elements were introduced one at a time before piecing everything together, which meant it was digestible for us all. It was a wonderful group of people to work with and a great project to be part of. Thank you Sioned and Dance4.”

For the whole Dance4 team it’s been both inspiring and a pleasure to host such talent in Nottingham.

On social media, there was an equally energetic buzz around the festival as we felt it at iC4C. Here are some highlights of our favourite tweets, facebook posts, and instagram pictures you posted:
